Rainbow Scrappy Challenge - March 2017 Red

Rainbow Scrappy Challenge - Red
Rainbow Scrappy Challenge - Red
We are three months into this challenge and these blocks don't seem to be getting any easier.  I finished this month's quota in the evenings this week and will be waiting patiently for the reveal of April's colour.  If it is red again, that will be fine as I have still have plenty of red scraps.

This pattern involves a lot of pressing and cutting to get accurate squares, so plenty of time stood at the ironing board.

Hope to be linking up with So Scrappy this weekend!

  1. I've been known to change course mid-stream - using 3-4 months worth of blocks to make a table topper or table runner so that I can move on to a different plan. Your blocks are gorgeous despite the amount of detail time involved.

  2. I am making these blocks for RSC too and I agree they are a little bit of a challenge to make. Yours are beautiful!

  3. I've seen a lot of other people making these blocks. Have you tried using an EZ angle ruler (Omnigrid makes one too) to cut fabric for the HSTs? It looks like from your side bar that you've made a Dear Jane quilt so I can't believe you think your RSC blocks are difficult to make!

There won't be another red month but there might be a pink one! Angela doesn't repeat colors in a month but she usually does leave Dec. free so you could use red scraps again then.

  4. What a great little block for the RSC. HST are so versatile and create such beautiful combinations.

  6. I know you shouldn't give up on this design, as we've seen what a stunning finish it makes. Keep pluggin away. I found mine really easy to make but alot of time pressing too. I may have to catch up on the march blocks next month, for me.

  7. I commend you for getting as far with these blocks as you have! I had a fair amount of trouble with the ONE sample block that I made. Can't imagine making as many as you have made for your RSC project!!

  8. Oh! I love what I am seeing. You did an excellent job with the red. Time consuming? Maybe, but we get nothing out of nothing. Well, you know what I mean. It will be all worthwhile in the end. Enjoy the break. ;^)

  11. I've been making those blocks for RSC, too. I actually started them last year, and just try to make 2-4 of them each month. It's one of my (many) long-range projects, and I know it'll be gorgeous someday!
You've got some beautiful reds - both foreground and background!
